About this listen

Layla Robinson is not crazy. She is suffering from unrequited love. But it's time to move on. No more stalking, no more obsessive calling.

What she needs is a distraction. The blue-eyed guy she keeps seeing around campus could be a great one - only he is the new poetry professor - the married poetry professor.

Thomas Abrams is a stereotypical artist - rude, arrogant, and broody - but his glares and taunts don't scare Layla. She might be bad at poetry, but she is good at reading between the lines. Beneath his prickly façade, Thomas is lonely, and Layla wants to know why. Obsessively.

Sometimes you do get what you want. Sometimes you end up in the storage room of a bar with your professor and you kiss him. Sometimes he kisses you back like the world is ending and he will never get to kiss you again. He kisses you until you forget the years of unrequited love; you forget all the rules, and you dare to reach for something that is not yours.

⭐️ [4/5 Stars] ⭐️

This definitely isn’t for everyone, that’s for sure. There’s something about forbidden romances that’s so alluring to me though, and I looooove reading them. It’s like a guilty pleasure. You know it’s wrong but it also feels so right at the same time, and that’s the exact feeling I got through this whole book and for Layla and Thomas’ relationship.

I used to read a lot of fan fiction (okay I still do) but I’d read it on archive of our own and not on wattpad because let’s be real—most of that is trash. The fics I read had a certain tone to them that was e x a c t l y like this. I don’t know what it is and I’ve never been able to put my finger on it exactly, but I felt it and it made me so happy. It’s like, too poetic? In the best way. Like it’s so poetic that it doesn’t feel real or possible? I don’t even know if that makes sense, ugh, but anyway. I liked the tone of this; it was dark and sexy and the smut was incredible. CHEFS KISS. Magnifique! 8/10. Their sexual chemistry was off the charts.

I guess the reason I can’t give this five stars is because I couldn’t entirely connect with it. Like I was reading it and I loved it, but I didn’t fall in like I do with other books and I didn’t fall into the characters or the storyline. The main thing that grasped me was their chemistry and the way they were together.

The read as a whole was sexy, steamy and so thrilling. It’s definitely up there on the dark romance scale.

Unsure

I had heard soo much hype for this book so decided to give it a go! As it was on my TBR.
From the beginning to about halfway I was thinking to myself ‘wtf is this’... it wasn’t until I got about 3/4 of the way through that I realised Layla isn’t crazy and that Thomas did want her too. The beginning of the book makes you think Layla is a complete and utter bloody psycho. But once you get through it you find that is just what she perceives on her end, where actually it’s the other persons fault so Layla just blames herself.

Anywho, I got past halfway and it all started to make sense finally. It felt like it took a little too long explaining Layla’s story but once you finish the book i felt it was incredibly well written. Great storyline. Great work from the characters.

Layla didn’t hold back acknowledging what she wants and that she will get it. An unavailable man falling for one of his students.

It’s a good book and worth finishing the whole thing!

Brilliant

I love everything Saffron writes. Her stories and words are like therapy for me. This was no different. Layla’s decisions were completely opposite to what I would do that it was so embarrassing to listen to at times. I paused it a few times, blushing hard saying to myself, ‘oh no. Please don’t do that’ Haha. But she’d go right ahead and do it anyway and it ended up being what Thomas needed. It’s so worth listening to. Anna Riorden’s voice was perfect for Layla AND Thomas. She made Saffron’s beautiful words even more beautiful to listen to..and of course Joe Arden is the bomb, so.. 5 stars.
