Stanislav Grof
About this listen
In every mystical wisdom tradition, nonordinary states of consciousness have served as essential tools for discovering why we are here and how we can live richer, more meaningful lives. For over 40 years, Stanislav Grof has tested and brought these methods into the field of modern psychology. Are emotional states and behavioral patterns explained solely by brain chemistry and life experience - or could they be expressions of far vaster universal energies? Which specific mind states most powerfully accelerate integration and healing of the self? And how do you access these states? In The Transpersonal Vision, Grof answers these questions - and raises many others - in a stunning summation of his groundbreaking life's work. You will learn about transpersonal psychology's daring forays into the worlds of the shaman and the mystic; how your perinatal (birth and prebirth) experience profoundly affect you even today; what past-life, near-death, and out-of-body phenomena teach us about our life purpose; and much more.

Wish everyone read or listened to this book!
Stan Grof 's wisdom and words are transformative. So refreshing to hear concepts which make sense and do not label a person as defective for life. Will reframe mainstream psychology and is the most fair and culturally body of work on this subject that I have seen. Look forward to other works by Grof.

Science meets spirituality
Some of the details were incredibly well researched and cover topics like life, death, past lives etc. He explains it all as a researcher but as a reader I found the evidence to be particularly compelling and he talks about it all as if it isn't profound in the least!!!

fascinating wisdom
This is a fascinating program of profound ideas presented with a voice of authenticity and sensitivity. Whether you agree with all of Grof's ideas or not, I think they demand consideration.

A Little Disappointing Given the Fame of Grof
I had to come back to this in a few goes as it was so hard for me to get through once it started to get a bit woo-ey for me. I completely accept that may be my own issues, but it was a bit of a chore from halfway through. I appreciate Stan reading it himself, and given his notoriety and respect in the community I thought I'd enjoy this formative book however I was left a little cold and underwhelmed. It also felt a bit lazy that the edit of this book couldn't get rid of the references to "end of CD 1" etc. as this was clearly released on CD back in the late 90s/early 00s.
