About this listen

The Future Has Already Happened.

It's expected to be an excursion like any other. There is nothing in the records to indicate that anything out of the ordinary will happen. A bus will take them to the mall. They will have an hour or so to look around. Perhaps buy something, try their food.

A minor traffic incident on the way back to the resort will provide additional interest - but the tour rep has no reason to expect any trouble. Until he notices that one of his party is missing. Most disturbingly, she is a woman who, according to the records, did not go missing.

Now she is a woman whose disappearance could change the world.

With breathtaking plot twists that ricochet through time, The Tourist is the most original conspiracy thriller you will listen to this year.

Warning: this book may break your brain

What made the experience of listening to The Tourist the most enjoyable?

I bought this book because it is narrated by Peter Kenny the best actor recording audiobooks today. As I expected his performance was outstanding.

What other book might you compare The Tourist to, and why?

This is a completely original story and not for the faint of heart or those who don't like solving the mystery themselves. The only book/movie I can compare it to is "Cloud Atlas" by David Mitchell since like that book you have to read the entire thing, keep the narrative straight in your head, then as you re-read the genius becomes apparent.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Everything about the 2nd listen was enjoyable. I was a bit lost on the first listen. The 2nd time though I had many "aha" moments and made copious notes. That type of commitment might throw some listeners off but I absolutely loved playing Columbo and cracking this case.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

"So nice you need to read it twice"

Any additional comments?

This is an audiobook on "hard mode" Dickinson does the opposite of hand holding the reader. He throws the reader in the deep and and makes them solve the mystery themselves. This is a mind bending time travel/conspiracy story. As I began to understand it I got chills. Completely unique. For those scratching their heads you can read my spoiler/FAQ review Goodreads (top review for the book)
