About this listen

Spirited Doctor Isla Fenwick is determined to work at the coalface of medicine in India before committing to life as a dutiful wife. With hopes of making a difference in the world, she sails to Calcutta to set up a midwifery clinic. There she will be forced to question her beliefs, her professionalism and her romantic loyalties. On a desperate rescue mission to save the one person who needs her the most, she travels into the foothills of the Himalayas to a tea plantation outside Darjeeling. At the roof of the world, where heaven and earth collide, Isla will be asked to pay the ultimate price for her passions. From England’s seaside town of Brighton to India’s slums of Calcutta and the breathtaking Himalayan mountains, this is a wildly exciting novel of heroism, heartache and healing, by the bestselling author of The Chocolate Tin.©2017 Fiona McIntosh (P)2017 Bolinda Publishing Fiction Historical Historical Fiction Romance Marriage

A wonderful story of India & the love of a memory.

What a wonderful story. Isla was such a strong willed woman who knew what she wanted and set out to fulfil her desires before settling down with the man she wanted to marry. When she travelled to India, the journey changed her life and we the reader, are captivated by her experiences of working in a busy hospital, the colleges she works with and the experiences she encounters. Isla travels to the Himalayan foothills with Dr Saxon Vicory where she experiences something she can never forget.
This story is soo well written and I just couldn't put down this audio book. Thank you for making this tale, one I'll treasure.

The Tea Gardens

Narrator was a little boring, story line was good and strong but the ending was weird, kind of rushed for an ending. Nice easy read though.

Captivating from beginning to end!

This book transported me to the desired world of romance in its most poignant form. Characters so enigmatic yet you can learn a lot from Fiona’s depiction of their machinations. I feel she has studied people her whole life to be able to bring to life such complex characters.
Fiona has a large expressiveness in her vast vocabulary that helps one ‘Be There’
Katy Soby is a brilliant reader, I always love a book read by her, so talented!
Well done girls! I applaud Fiona, such fine research, I will appreciate my cups of tea so much more now :) Jacqui

Lockdown literature, romantic travels

Love Fiona Mc Intoshs storytelling , little under whelmed by the Mills and Boon feeling in this one , and guessed the outcome from the beginning. Prefer the grit of some of her other titles.
Fabulous narration from Katy , as usual. enjoyable enough but not challenging.

Annoying tone of narrator

I couldn’t listen to this- narrator’s voice so irritating with that constant upward inflection. Could never listen for long.
