A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE STARRING MATT DAMON, JUDE LAW AND GWYNETH PALTROW
One of the BBC's 100 Novels that shaped our world.
'An outstanding thriller which has deservedly become a classic' THE TIMES
'Ripley - amoral, hedonistic and charming - is a genuinely original creation' DAILY TELEGRAPH
'I'm a huge Highsmith fan. If there's one book I wish I'd written, it's The Talented Mr Ripley' SARAH WATERS
ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL CRIME NOVELS EVER WRITTEN
Tom Ripley travels to Italy with a commission to coax a prodigal young American back to his wealthy father. But Ripley finds himself very fond of Dickie Greenleaf. He wants to be like him - exactly like him. Suave, agreeable and utterly amoral, Ripley will stop at nothing to accomplish his goal.
The Talented Mr. Ripley serves as an unforgettable introduction to this smooth confident man, whose talent for murder and self-invention is chronicled in four subsequent Ripley novels.
Critic Reviews
"Precisely plotted, stylishly written, and kept alert by an icy wit. Streets ahead of the conventional thriller: a cool little classic of its kind." (Evening Standard)

Narrator nails this
You’ll hear differences to the show/film but overall if you are diving into this straight after the tv show, most will already be explained to you. I’d recommend this book though. Great narration

A Great Road Trip Listen
Very good narration of a literary classic. I vaguely remember the film and feel the book is merely a close relative which mean the reader will get much more from the story. Sometimes I would think to myself how implausible the plot is but then have to remember this was written in 1955. At times frustrating because everyone around Tom Ripley appears gullible but still entertaining. Don't think too hard and you will enjoy Toms journey.

So much better than the movie
I was pleasantly surprised by this novel. Heard good things but avoided it after watching the movie. Characters are so much more interesting and credible. The language is a little dated but takes nothing from the book.

Highly entertaining …
… and well narrated psychological thriller with elements of a detective story mainly set in southern Europe
