About this listen
Trusted surgeon. Loving wife. Murderer?
Before my world came crashing down, I had it all. The successful career I dreamed of. The beautiful red-brick home where I could relax in front of the fire. The handsome, devoted husband whose blue eyes and charming smile always made me feel safe.
As I call time of death, my voice is steady. My colleagues stand hushed around me, their eyes on me, confused, concerned.
I have never lost a patient until today.
My hands tremble inside their gloves. I slide down the cold tiled walls, my heart racing in my chest.
I have never hated a patient until today.
But what choice did I have, once I recognized him?
And what will I do to protect myself, if someone learns the truth?
A totally gripping psychological thriller that will have you gasping for breath until the final jaw-dropping twist. If you love Freida McFadden, Shari Lapena, and The Girl on the Train, you won’t be able to pause this.

The Surgeon
Once you start reading this book you’ll find it terribly difficult to put down. The characters are well fleshed out to the point where you feel you could reach out and touch them - they’re so real.
If you love a suspense filled thriller don’t miss this book! The twist is amazing! You’re hooked from the start.

Melodramatic performance
It took me a while to work out why the narrator sounded so familiar but eventually it clicked. Anne of Green Gables reading poetry. All overwrought, childish drama.
The main character sounded like an adult playing a sad little girl in a melodrama. The fact that the main character is supposed to be a highly successful and confident heart surgeon made this grate all the more.
Every sentence sounded as if she was just on the edge of tears. Urgh!!!
The story was not bad but maybe it was actually great - I can’t judge due to being so annoyed by the baby-voiced narrator.
