Have you ever imagined running away from your life?
Well Birdy Finch didn't just imagine it. She did it. Which might've been an error. And the life she's run into? Her best friend, Heather's.
The only problem is, she hasn't told Heather. Actually there are a few other problems.
Can Birdy carry off a summer at a luxury Scottish hotel pretending to be her best friend (who incidentally is a world-class wine expert)?
And can she stop herself from falling for the first man she's ever actually liked (but who thinks she's someone else)?
If you're looking to replace that Fleabag- or Bridesmaids-sized hole in your life, look no further: Birdy Finch is here. A snort-out-loud rom-com with a heart of gold, The Summer Job is the debut to lose yourself in this year.

Will there be a Summer Job sequel?
Amazing! I loved this book. So satisfying, lovely and funny. Lizzy Dent approaches important issues that are common in many peoples’ lives with such tenderness.

Boring
Gave up after chapter 8. The narration was fine and Emma Sidi does a fine Scottish accent, but the story was just bland and not worth sticking around for.

Not what I expected - in a good way!
I downloaded this without thinking too much of it and was expecting a light entertaining read but nothing crazy. I was delightfully surprised by how much I loved the characters, storyline and unpredicted twists! Highly recommend. I loved it!

Disappointing
I want to rewrite the review of this book as "Immature and Unreliable mid 20's replaces her equally irresponsible best friend at a job where she has absolutely no experience as a Sommelier, whose only interest is in the male chef. Couldn't get much past chapter 8. The narrator is good, but the story line lets her down. Shame as this had so much potential to be a little more entertaining."

I’m sorry I did not finish
Such a dull little novel with a boring little main character who I didn’t care about. The reader irritated me too. Life is to short and there are too many better books to read so I abandoned it.
