About this listen
The Neopolitan quartet traces the friendship between Elena and Lila, from their childhood in a poor neighbourhood in Naples to their 30s, when both women are mothers but each has chosen a different path.
Their lives are still inextricably linked, for better or worse, especially when it comes to the drama of a lost child.

An unforgettable read
What did you like most about The Story of the Lost Child?
So many things. The language, the characters. They get under your skin and you feel like they are someone you have known for a long time.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Story of the Lost Child?
The plot line at the heart of The Lost Child. I can't reveal anymore!
Which character – as performed by Hillary Huber – was your favourite?
Elena although I came to see that she was flawed, just like all of the characters, and yet you can forgive her.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The story of a friendship and of two lives, for better or worse.

It's over
Having gotten sucked in with the first few novels, I had to carry on. Found myself less interested by novel 4 and the focus on the women's relationship dynamics wearing. Had to see it through to the end, however!

It feels like goodbye ...
End of the saga. This story was more meandering and perhaps it's due to correlations between what it speaks off and myself ... feels resolved without any clear statement of resolution.

Italian accent needed-brilliant story
The American accent continues to annoy me throughout all four books. I absolutely loved these books!! Best author!! A narrator with an Italian accent to her English language would be so much more authentic. I can’t stress this point enough

A Disappointing Conclusion
I guess if you're writing about women and their emergence from their class, it has to be a tragedy. What's the point of fiction if it replicates fact?

A Neopolitan tale of friendship to stand the test of time
This book is like talking to an old friend. Beautifully written and narrated. I also really enjoyed the account it gives of Italian history in the second half of the 20th Century and feminist themes.
