About this listen

Near the rugged Australian coastline beaten by the winds of the wild, great Southern Ocean sits a forgotten stationmaster's cottage holding secrets of a tragic love story.

These are secrets Christie Ryan knows nothing about when she unexpectedly inherits her estranged grandmother's cottage in the small seaside town of Rivers End. There, Christie finds love letters that have remained unopened for close to 50 years. The letters tell of a great-aunt she never knew existed and a love so powerful that Christie becomes determined to uncover what kept the young couple apart.

Her quest leads her to the door of reclusive local artist Martin, who Christie is convinced holds the key to the questions she seeks to answer. But Martin is wary of the newcomer and has important reasons for keeping Christie at arm's length.

As the search continues, Christie realizes uncovering her family's past may help her discover the truth of who she really is. But before the decades old mystery can be solved, Christie will be faced with deciding what it truly means to love someone.

Includes Taming the Wind, a bonus prequel novella from the Rivers End series.

perceptions and deception

perceptions and deception make for a cruel ‘reality’ and subsequent choices. Enjoyed this more than I expected with believable characters and plausible plot. Narration perhaps not my favourite but not unlistenable.

The most wonderful and dramatic love story

A love story with a lot of suspension and drama. Well written and beautifully read. Almost a must for those who fancy this kind of books.

Australian Themed

I love a family story that keeps you guessing. I love the past being interwoven with the present. Believable characters. Modern day relationships in contrast with a past era explored. All interwoven in a relatable Australian setting. What’s not to love? Looking forward to the next book!

The old fashioned big sweeping romance

Such a wonderful introduction to audiobooks, my first pleasure audiobook. It had a non violent mystery, romance, and lots of well described images. I loved it!

An enjoyable listening experience

Just starting out with audio books and this was a great one to begin with. The voices were good, the storyline plausible and there were enough twists and turns to keep me interested. Not my usual genre but I enjoyed the book.
