About this listen

A wedding in Spain. The most infuriating man. Three days to convince your family you're actually in love. . .

Catalina Martín desperately needs a date to her sister's wedding. Especially when her little white lie about her American boyfriend has spiralled out of control. Now everyone she knows – including her ex-boyfriend and his fiancée – will be there.

She only has four weeks to find someone willing to cross the Atlantic for her and aid in her deception. NYC to Spain is no short flight and her family won't be easy to fool. . . But even then, when Aaron Blackford – the 6'4", blue-eyed pain in the arse – offers to step in, she's not tempted even for a second. Never has there been a more aggravating, blood-boiling and insufferable man.

But Catalina is desperate and as the wedding gets closer the more desirable an option Aaron Blackford becomes. . .

The Spanish Love Deception is an enemies-to-lovers, fake-dating romance. Perfect for those looking for a steamy slow-burn with the promise of a sweet happy-ever-after.

Loved the story line!

Loved the story line and the voice was great! I got through it in one weekend! Couldn’t put it down!

Sorry to say I don't think the narrator was the right choice.

I've read The Spanish Love Deception paperback 3 times. So I do like this book. Enough that I bought the other 3 Elena Armas books and have read them all 2 times each.
But I really wish they had gone a different direction with the narration. I can understand why they have used a spanish speaking women, as she nails the spanish parts. But I really don't like her voice for Aaron's parts, and even didn't like her as a choice for Lina.
I won't be relistening to this, even though I do like the book.

Surprisingly enjoyable!

I went into this feeling very dubious. I actually read the second book (that focuses on Rosie) first and so knew where Lina and Aaron end up but still wanted to know their journey.
It took a bit to get used to the narrator (again, having come off of reading the sequel with a different narrator) and I never really got used to the slight nasal inflection she gave to Aaron.

Slow Burn

Sorry was fine. Standard fluffy romance. Nothing memorable. Incredibly long slow burn. I imagine the tv show they make will be somewhat bland and will be only 1 season

Aaron Blackford is a new book boyfriend!

Honestly, this book was predictable AF, but I wanted something light and fluffy, and this delivered. It only lost a star as it was a bit waffley at times. I also would have liked more of it set in Spain.

Cute romance

I really enjoyed this book. It was a very soft & sweet kind of romance with a spicy twist. It was super angsty & long but not in an overly drawn out way. I felt the story progressed perfectly and fit with their evolving relationship. The narrator was fantastic and I loved the Spanish flare to the performance. Definitely recommend for a feel good/cute romance read.

Good until it got cringe

Seemed a cute, fun little story until turning super cringey and over-the-top scripted. Smiles became grimaces and eye rolls. Great narration, could have been so much better with a bit of editing through the final chapters.

one of my new faves

In terms of romantic comedies, this one is one of the best I've ever read.
Catalina is super down to earth, a real girl with real problems. She panicked and told her family she was bringing her "boyfriend" to her sisters wedding.
It's a fake dating trope and it's been done so well!
I want to talk about the love interest Aaron for a moment. In MOST romance novels the males come off as too feminine and almost unrealistic because men don't behave or speak that way. In the Spanish live deception, even though Aaron was in love, he was manly about it.
I would definitely read this again and recommend it to my friends.
the performance was beautiful

Great chemistry

This is a slow burn fake relationship story but wasn't too slow, just perfect. I've read reviews that say the characters had no chemistry..they must of been reading a different book because there was bucket loads of chemistry! Plot kept me listening right until the end. Narrators was also good. Only negative was sometimes there was too much internal dialogue for the female main character but the sexy male character, Aaron made up for it.
