About this listen
Evie is in the grip of a gambling addiction.
She's terrified she'll destroy the lives of her husband and two small daughters, especially with her rising debt. She grabs onto a lifeline - the offer of a program that promises to heal addictions and give her a fresh start.
Evie and 27 others from around the world travel to a monastery on a tiny Greek island to begin the program. There are six days and six challenges on the path to healing. Ten thousand dollars per challenge. Sixty thousand on completion. Enough to pay off debts and start anew.
But who is the one watching and waiting behind the walls?
Evie's husband, Gray, is gutted to find the note that Evie left behind. Why did she leave, and where did she go? When Evie's car is found burned out in woodland, the police suspect him of murdering Evie.
Gray has one chance to fly to Greece to try to find Evie before he's arrested for something he didn't do.
Too late, Evie discovers the chilling truth about the monastery and the island. And the closer she gets to finding an escape, the closer the danger gets to her.
A slow-burn psychological thriller. High adventure, dark games and chilling horror set in a monastery on a remote Greek island.

A bit overexcited towards the end
Some reference Squid Game when describing this, but it should be noted that this came out before SG. If one accepts the basic plot, the general construction of the novel seems logical. The latter part of the book seems rather overdramatic however.

Whoa! Get ready for some brutal scenes
Tanks filled with bodies, peep holes in monastery walls, manipulation at its worst. I never loved any of the characters, but I did feel I knew them. The multiple storytellers kept this book very interesting.

Not what I was expecting from this author
I liked this one but it is quite different from her previous books. I liked that it was all in the rhelm of possibility but also hope it's not

The six
This book started strangely to me but once it got into it I was hooked. I loved it! The pronunciation of some words was strange but I learned to ignore it. Over all a great book. I look forward to more from Anni Taylor

Great story
Loved the story and all the twists and turns. Pronunciation of certain words was peculiar and accents not quite right it almost sounded like a robotic voice at times.

Wasn’t excited about the blurb, but great!
I love Annie Taylor’s work but the idea of this one did not appeal. I was wrong, Expecting silly action style, it contained her usual narrative brilliance and stories of ordinary people, worth a read.

Good story, interesting twists, marred by performance and writing
This book has a lot of potential, but needed some heavy copy editing to get both general structure and character dialogue on track. The performer’s accents appeared to lack research into proper pronunciation, but all room for improvement
