About this listen

In this remarkable memoir - written with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Buzz Bissinger during her pivotal first years of rebirth - Caitlyn Jenner reflects on her past as she looks to her future. With poignancy and humour, Caitlyn writes about her confusion growing up, the temporary triumph of the Olympics as Bruce Jenner, and the noose of being endlessly described as the ultimate in manhood. She reveals her sense of shame and deceit she felt as she got older, as she went to great lengths to tell lies to conceal her true self. She also delves into her life in the public eye, her marriages and her troubled relationships with her children, what led to her decision to become Caitlyn, and how the transgender community and the world has embraced her new life. Written with a searing honesty, this audiobook shows you the real and true Caitlyn.

Honest and Heartfelt

I enjoyed this story. It was not linear and did move around. It was really about her gender dysphoria and trans journey.

It was honest and heartfelt. However I wish she read or someone else did. The AI sounding woman’s voice that read was robotic almost ruined the story for me. It was hard to listen to.

Overall however I was able to hear Caitlyn’s voice through this weird performance. Her story was reflective and shed a lot of secrets. It must have been such a difficult journey to take when very few understand it.

Thank you Caitlyn

a sad yet inspiring telling of a personal fight for freedom of form, past, doubt and fear.
there were a few times I wished she would just be happy with being Caitlyn. rest, and enjoy the rest of her life. but she's a fighter, an athlete, a people's champion, perhaps she doesn't know how to put the baton down, perhaps she doesn't know how, or perhaps the baton is part of Bruce she keeps safe and still identifies with.
it's sad to think that the insecurity and confusion that tormented such a gentle soul, albeit hidden behind the bravado of fame has not yet found love as a woman, genuine love that can't be measured or bought or photographed but comes as a contented sigh as she sleeps at night.

and yet I find myself rejoicing in this divas moxy.. bless you Caitlyn

Refreshing with an almost anti-woke undertone.

I was positively surprised by how much I enjoyed this book.
I naively was half expecting it to be a pity party about how the kardashians and the world had done Caitlin wrong, however it was anything but.
Caitlin is a very strong individual who deserves nothing but happiness.

Very informative, honest, relatable

This book helped me understand a very confusing time. I have been a heterosexual woman my whole life, raised by strict homophobic father, it traumatised me. I suppressed my identity till the age of 31 after years of excessive sex with men because I simply was never satisfied. I met a woman at the age of 31 and I felt as though I had been struck by lightning. It was an extremely emotional time with God I cried for months, we never hugged or kissed we just looked at each other a lot and now I am almost finished my first book for her haha! I didn’t know what to do with my feelings so I made her a book, filled with love letters and illustrations to colour in. I’m not a writer I’m just a girl with a lot of love for this girl and a creative brain hehe 🥰 YolandaW3bb

was ok

the story jumped around a bit and at times was hard to follow. the most interesting part was about Nicole's death.

Excuse after excuse

A lifetime of running away and multiple abandonment of her children. Honesty about her gender dysmorphia but blame and excuses for those who have supported her. Step up Caitlyn. Owning your shit is more than saying I behaved poorly then doing it again and again.

Meh

Disappointing and not very entertaining, would have preferred her voice or an other trans lady. the tone was hard to keep up with.
