Publisher's Summary

When story-lover Anna takes over Longhampton's bookshop, it's her dream come true. And not just because it gets her away from her three rowdy stepchildren and their hyperactive dalmatian.

Unpacking boxes filled with childhood classics, Anna can't shake the feeling that maybe her own fairy-tale ending isn't all that she'd hoped for. But as the stories of love, adventure, secret gardens, lost dogs, wicked witches and giant peaches breathe new life into the neglected shop, Anna and her customers get swept up in the magic, too.

Even Anna's best friend, Michelle - who categorically doesn't believe in true love and handsome princes - isn't immune. But when secrets from Michelle's own childhood come back to haunt her and disaster threatens Anna's home, will the wisdom and charm of the stories in the bookshop help the two friends - and those they love - find their own happy ever afters?

I really enjoyed this book

I had moments when my jaw literally fell open, the depiction of the characters was so real that you felt your own heart break, skip a beat and fall in love.

Lucy Price-Lewis is a fabulous narrator.

Definitely worth it.

Another brilliant book by Lucy Dillon!

Love this book! An interesting read that enables you to delve into the lives of the characters. I'd recommend this book to anyone who's enjoyed other Lucy Dillon books, if they like stories about life told in a humerous and realistic way.

This was a beautiful story of love, friendship, family and the realities of life. Intertwined was the ever- present reminder of the joy that books can bring to people of all types. I enjoyed this audiobook from beginning to end.

Disappointing.

This book went on for too long . The main female characters were frustratingly weak with abusive men and by chapter 20 I had had enough. Couldnt bear another 14 chapters .
Good narrator.

Very slow moving

I usually really enjoy Lucy Dillon books but I found this one really frustrating. The plot of the book was painfully slow and I found the main characters unlikeable. Anna was frustrating and too busy being a doormat for me to have any sympathy for her. I frequently found myself saying "just stand up for yourself". Michelle and her family were really disagreeable. I find it really hard to enjoy a book when I don't like the main characters. The previous book I had just read was 100 Pieces of Me, which I thoroughly enjoyed. This book didn't even come close to that.
