Publisher's Summary

The Second Adventures of Uncle Wiggily

By Howard R. Garis

Narrated by Andre Baum

Howard Garis was an American author who wrote many volumes for the Stratemeyer Syndicate, a publishing company that produced several series of children's books, using the services of a multitude of authors. While Garis wrote several books under pseudonyms, the best known titles penned under his own name are those in the Uncle Wiggily series.

The title character is an elderly rabbit, who suffers from rheumatism. In his rambles about the neighborhood he uses a distinctive and colorful walking cane. Although he is infirm, and sometimes appears slow of apprehension, he usually manages to defeat the deceptive wiles of his less scrupulous neighbors.

The Uncle Wiggily stories first appeared in the Newark News. When Garis retired from his journalistic duties, he had written over 11,000 stories about Uncle Wiggily and the menagerie of fantastic creatures that lived in his neighborhood.
