About this listen
It's 1665. Silas is killing plague victims for fun; the ready supply of victims means that he can satiate his desires easily. In 2015, at the Crossrail dig in London, two bodies are found, just as a spate of murders takes place. As the police rush to put together the links between the two, the modern-day serial-killer fights to stay ahead of them enough to kill again. DI Mark Fairgreaves and his team must work together to put together the pieces before they lose one of their own.

A promising start, but...
It's a first novel, so I should make allowances. But I found the characters lacking; not well-rounded. Part of the problem may be with the narrator.. I've listened to him before and enjoyed him, but there is something stilted and a little hap-hazard about this one; the style seems better suited to an Agatha Christie or other light-weight whodunnit.
It was certainly well-researched, but did suffer a bit from blocks of 'look what I know about this' rather than a seamless integration into the story.
I was left wondering whether the premise was associated with fantasy or psychosis, and found the ending a little unsatisfactory. Perhaps more is explained in Book 2, although I'm not sure whether that will follow on, or simply be a 'Detective Inspector Mark Fairgreaves' series with stand-along crime and ongoing romance.
All in all, not bad, I didn't want to stop listening as the story was engaging, but it could have been so much more.
