يعمل هاني موظفًا في متحف أحد القصور القديمة، وقد كان يلقى الكثير من المتعة خلال عمله بسبب حبه الفطري للفن فقد اعتاد الصعود بزوار القصر إلى سحب الخيال فيشرح بأسلوبه الطفولي اللافت عن اللوحات والتماثيل والمنحوتات...

كان يجوب أرجاء المتحف عندما وصل إلى صالة أعمال زكريا العايدي الفنان المصري ذو الجذور المغربية وبدأ بشرح فكره وأعماله وأشهر هذه الأعمال والذي كان تمثالًا بعنوان" انقلاب الشر" !!

كان يتحدى الزوار: انظروا إليه لو تجرؤون، حملقوا في عينيه لو أنَّ لديكم المقدرة..ويضحك ليلطَّف الأجواء لكنّه لم يتخلَّص من ذلك الإحساس الذي يراوده كلّما وصل إلى هذا التمثال..

كان التمثال يمثل شيطانًا بشعًا يطرق رأسه ويحمل تناقضًا محيّرًا بين نظرته الجهنمية وبين وضعية جسده؛ فعيناه تنطق بإغواءٍ قذر وتُثير الذعر بفظاعتها أمّا وضعية جسده المنكمشة فتشي بالعكس !!

فما السرُّ وراء هذا التمثال الملعون؟ ولماذا تحوَّل "زكريا العايدي" في آخر حياته من الرَّسم إلى النحت ومن الألوان الحالمة إلى التصوير الكابوسي؟

وما علاقة هاني بهذا كلّه؟...أسرارٌ غريبة وأحداث مشوّقة تكشفها هذه الرواية بأسلوبٍ أخّاذ وغير مألوف.
