Publisher's Summary
This unique "fusion of science and the physical history" traces the story of the Scots through their DNA (Sunday Herald).
An almost limitless archive of our history lies hidden inside our bodies, and this book traces the ancient story of Scotland from that scientific viewpoint. The mushrooming of genetic studies, of DNA analysis, is rewriting history in spectacular fashion.
In Scotland: A Genetic Journey, Alistair Moffat explores the history that is printed on our genes, and in a remarkable new approach, uncovers the detail of where Scots are from, where they have journeyed, and who they are - and in so doing, vividly colors in a DNA map of Scotland.

Excellent
Absorbing and informative, this compelling book will also serve as an excellent reference for those of us interested in Y-DNA who are intrigued by ancestral journeys.

A Complicated DNA Journey but much more
I enjoyed listening to this book but it is much broader than simple look at the DNA. The story is complicated and if I was studying the area I would have to spend much more time making notes and looking at the relevance of markers, The book relates how a country is made up of more than its parts and how the context of history, power, travel and breeding creates a more complicated country than we think. The Polish return!! How genetic material arrives is exported and then returns can make your head ache. Further how language changes, develops and is lost is fascinating.
