An amazing book for any era

This has been one of my favourite books for about 20 years. Percy is a wonderful hero who ticks all the boxes. Smart, funny, gorgeous, courageous, romantic and deeply in love with his wife.

I’d recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance, a mystery, adventure and a period piece.

They seek him here, they seek him there, those Frenchies seek him everywhere, is he in heaven? Or is he in hell, that damned, elusive, pimpernel…
