About this listen

Silence can be a blessing, like the kind you seek out when the world has become too overwhelming and all you desperately want is a bit of quiet. And then, silence can be downright eerie, like when the whole world seems to hush just in time for you to have to walk alone in the dark.

This silence definitely wasn’t a blessing. It seemed the wind had stopped and the wildlife had disappeared long before she had come to the place where she was hiding. The noises she had become accustomed to hearing were gone, as though all life had been sucked out of the world. The deafening silence only proved to unnerve her and set her even further on edge. She was waiting for the boogeyman. Her energy was exhausted, and it was all she could do.
