Publisher's Summary

Collin Creed is a killer. But he's Lowyn's killer. And after a twelve-year separation, she wants him back. Deep in the hills of West Virginia, three small towns have found a way to flourish in the face of extreme poverty. Disciple runs a side-show tent revival that brings in millions of dollars a year. Bishop flaunts traditional ways in the vein of Colonial Williamsburg, luring weary city people to the slow-living lifestyle. And Revenant offers them an experience of sin filled with tattooed bikers and live-music dive bars.

It's a sacred trinity that worships the almighty dollar and everyone plays their role like a well-trained Broadway actor.

But these hills have secrets, and so do the people.

Twelve years ago, when he was just eighteen and dreaming of a future with his high school sweetheart, Collin Creed learned something about himself. Something so disturbing he left Disciple to join the Marines and didn't once look back. But all that came to a screeching halt with the congressional hearings, forcing Collin to return home and rebuild his black-ops empire brick by brick.

Lowyn McBride's heart broke when Collin shut her out and left town without an explanation just as they were getting ready to start their adult lives together. The death of her mother the following year was a make-or-break moment and Lowyn rose to the occasion, giving up her university education to parent her younger sister while building an empire of her own as a specialty antiques dealer.

Anger and desire, guilt and shame—the return of the enigmatic Collin Creed ignites the town and sparks an explosion of emotions inside Lowyn. But he's not the only one with a secret in his past.

Lowyn has always played the good girl to Collins bad-boy reputation. But it turns out—she's just like everyone else up in these hills—not as wholesome and pure as she looks.

creative, different, romance that walks in the shade, not the dark.

Well talk about flipping the world upside down.
I last listened to Ms Huss with her "sick world" series and this was so different.
It was a really unusual story with religious connotations and the plotline allowing j a. complete licence to spin a world full of retro, romance and recital of times of old.
I started out thinking deep undertones with the H and h as I was in dark theme mode.
But it turned out to be shades lighter, which I'm pretty sure, is like some of her other novels that i haven't listened to.
There was some funny dialogue and chuckle worth characters in this story, an h that is level headed, southern in manners and an H that has to work and discover new avenues of his life.
I enjoyed the direction his ideals and plans took which I'm hoping will continue on in future books.
There was no push pull, love hate, yes I'm in no I'm out, innuendo. It was a simple 2nd chance that brooked no defiance from either side. Indeed I found it to be refreshing change as I could get on with immersing myself in this weirdly wonderful world that j. a. Huss wove.
To introduce dogs was an awesome treat and added a little warmth and incentive to the "edge" members and their crew.
Jill Redfield is simply the best, I just adore her narration.
I've listened to C J Mission in other tropes, however I really enjoyed his voice as Creed.
So looking forward to the next book.

This is the start of something Big

This story took me down a rabbit hole and left me wanting more. A story that starts out straight forward of a man returning to his home town and the woman he left behind. Really he was more a boy than a man, just like she was just a girl than a woman when he left after an incident that changed everything. If you are a fan of JA Huss you will love this and if you haven't read any of her books you must. I can't wait to start the next book.

Great series starter

In true JA Huss fashion, she has set us up for an absolute roller coaster ride with this series. Narration is excellent and story is just amazing with all the twist and turns, it gave me whiplash. I cannot wait for book 2 in the Sacred Trinity series.

Unable to put down

I’ll confess to being a J A Huss fun and I have eagerly consumed everything she has written, some more than twice (and all in audio now)
I love the narration, both voice actors felt perfect.
While waiting for this book to release I have read (listened) to so many other books, some new, some again. Finishing the Rumble and the Glory has reminded me what a skilled storyteller Julie is, the wonderful and surprising twists which are often un-sussable (yeah I made that word up but says what I mean) and even if you guess right it is only a bit right.
Great story, awesome listen and I can’t wait for more.
Thank you Julie

The Rumble and the Glory

I love how J.A. Huss weaves a tale. The second chance romance was done so unique and beautiful. Then there is the mystery in the book that JA is known for that just keeps you turning the page to know more. There is so much going one but it's not overwhelming. I am about to binge this entire series. I loved it!

slow burn

this book took me a bit to get into but I am very glad I persevered. in typical JA Huss style she created a new, detailed world and this needed time to develop. I'm totally hooked now and can't wait to find out what's next.
