Will is small for his age, but agile and energetic. All his life, he has dreamed of becoming a great knight like the father he never knew, so he is devastated when he is rejected as an apprentice to Castle Redmont's Battleschool. Instead he is apprenticed to Halt, the mysterious Ranger whose uncanny ability to move unseen is thought to be the result of black magic. Reluctantly, Will learns to use a Ranger's secret weapons: a bow and arrow, a mottled cloak and a stubborn little pony. It may not be the sword and battlehorse he longs for, but when Will and Halt set out on a desperate mission to prevent the assassination of the King, Will finds that a Ranger's weapons are not so useless after all....

Great Book
William Zappa provides an excellent performance with a smooth narrating voice and interesting accents for the characters.
The story by John Flanagan is one of my favourites and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in medieval fantasy.
A brilliant audiobook.

So Discriptive
This has to be one of the most descriptive book i have ever listened to!! Great story line. Recommend for any teens looking for a good book.

Awsome, as always
i jave already tated this but anyway. best series awsome love it worth the price. i would even pay more, so amazimg great charictures and storyline love the ideas amd ingenuity in this beutifuly created story, an amzing read or listen . great for any time your in the car, or any time your anywhere, if you love harry potter this is also a great book for you, its beutifuly wrighten, but its got charictures you feel you could actually meet and befriend, with faults and skills like the rest of us, i just wish i could join the ranger core and become an apprentice. i have read/listened to the whole series and the characters are real to me, i can always rely on there judgement and they have become my friends in away. its an amazing series and if you dont like it, your mad, as its expertly crafted and is extremely enjoyable.

My favourite book series
There is something so humbling about this series. The character development is fantastic, the pacing is brilliant not slow and not fast. Just the right amount of detail to colour a wonderful world of creation and fantasy. I read it every year and I have done so for years. I would recommend to anyone. Although a young adult series typically it is really ideal for any ages I believe.

John. How have you done it again!
This book is one of my favourites, the charaters, the setting, the whole thing is perfect. I love his other books and it has made me think differently about this world. I find myself being for creative and when I write, my description is pretty good.
If you like this book, please don't read that crappy the traitors son... IT IS A CHEAP VERSION OF THE BEST BOOK SERIES THAT YOU SHOULDN'T SURPORT!

Greatly crafted story
I found this book very well written and it grew more engaging as it continued. It finished well, leaving me very satisfied, as well as quite looking forward to the next book.
I want sure about the narrating as it started, but it turned out to be fantastic.

Loved it
When it finished I just wanted more. Lucky for me there is a whole series!
