About this listen

Ehlana, Queen of Elenia, had been poisoned. A deep enchantment sustained her life, but only while the Knights aiding it still lived - and, already, they were dying, one each month. Then Sparhawk, the knight and Queen's Champion, learned that the cure for the poison was Bhelliom, the great jewel lost when Sarak of Thalesia died in battle 500 years before.

Sparhawk and his companions set forth to find King Sarak's grave by raising ghosts of those who had perished in that ancient battle. The Seeker, an insectile monster spawned of the evil god Azash, hounded their every step. Still, Sparhawk pressed on, driven by desperate need. They had to find Bhelliom before his Queen perished. They must not fail!

Critic Reviews

"Eddings's strength lies in his ability to create thoroughly likable heroes with personalities that transcend the formulaic fantasy genre." ( Library Journal)

Masterful

Fans of David Eddings will not be disappointed. An epic story and one that will remain as one of the greats.

Excellent Story, Poor Reading

This is the second book I've listen to with this particular reader. Unfortunately his performance style takes away from an excellent book. especially his rendering of Flute, who he manages to make sound like an old crone bent on destruction.

great story but the narrator needs work

i love this story but the narrator cant pronounce "ing" on the end of any word and also doesnt read other words properly.i have read the books and the mistakes are obvious and as a person who enjoys correct grammar and well spoken english it really annoys me.

The drone of boredom.

This reader’s voice drones on and tends to put one to sleep, until he mispronounces something.....or is it that the Americans pronounce some things differently from other English users. I am a fan of David Eddings writings and I do want to hear the next book in the series, but to have to endure that voice.....

Narrator not suited to Story

I love this book and this author however the narrator voice and lack of range of "voices" detracts is unsuitable for this story.

Cringe

Firstly I've read all these books many times so I know they aren't exactly high end fantasy, but damn, the narrator makes this so much morebcringe. If you want to listen to the exact same stereotypical, almost cartoonish, voices he uses for every other character who's not a main, then this is the audio book for you. It's terrible, and it makes the average writing worse than it is as a result. Also, how American do you want these guys to sound? Sparhawks not supposed to sound like an American college student. Why does every bad guy soundike a bad guy from a kids anime series? If the narrator did this for free, then fair enough. If you paid him for this, then you should get your money back.
