About this listen
This audio novella is a stand-alone prequel to the Cormac Reilly series.
Twenty-two-year-old Niamh Turley thought she had problems dealing with the obnoxious principal of the school she’s teaching in as well as the anxious parents of her little charges, but when she wakes one morning to a missing roommate and a garda knocking on her door, her life spirals out of control fast....

A wonderful short story
A great short story superbly narrated by Aoife McMahon. Likeable main character and well assembled story, but it is the magnificent narration that sets these books apart.

Easy listening.
Nice introduction to Cormac Reilly. Easy to listen to novella. Kinda predictable, but that's okay.

Very snappy
Great little insight into Cormacs past and a view to his development 👍🏼 Another longer novel would be great

Gripping indeed, and a great prequel to The Ruin
Now this is indeed a prequel, in contrast to The Sisters,
A nicely structured and well-paced novella around a predatory roommate and with a gripping climax, almost a la Hitchcock!.
I had promised myself a re-read of The Ruin, but have rushed on to number 2 in the series, The Scholar.
Becoming addicted!

Excellent novella.
Great story and great narration as always. Definitely wanted more... but isn't that the best way to be left?

Irish Detective Series
Excellent narration but my thinking is that the storyline was a bit simplistic. A few ideas which were a bit questionable!

short and gripping
I love the way Dervla McTiernan writes. The stories are easy page-turners but the characters and plot are smart and well-constructed. I've read them all now and can't wait for more! And the narrator was great. I could listen to those lovely accents all day.

Ok but predictable
Overall an enjoyable story but considering a murder took place some of the decisions made were silly and not plausible.
