About this listen
From the number one international best-selling author of Holy Island and Impostor.
From the shadows into the light....
When a fishing boat is wrecked off the treacherous North Sea coast and the body of a young woman washes up on the beach beside the iconic ‘Marsden Rock’, DCI Ryan cannot ignore the call to duty.
With one already dead and more human cargo missing from the wreckage, Ryan and his team race to find the remaining souls - before it’s too late and their investigation turns to murder. As they uncover the seedy underbelly of Tyneside, cold and calculated opportunism clashes with the rock-hard arm of the Law, but there’s one thing that proves stronger than stone....
The human spirit.
Murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunnit set amidst the spectacular North Eastern landscape.

her best book
i have listened to all of the DCI Ryan books and while the Infirmary was probably one of my favourites initially, this one takes the cake. i have never cried listening to an audio book before. This is brilliant.

Delightful reading
I have gone through this whole series, I am hoping LJ Ross will continue writing about DCI Ryan and his team. I actually bought the Kindle edition first when it came out but waited for the Audible version because Jonathan Keeble is my favourite narrator, I never tire listening to him!

is this Mills and Boone?
lj Ross books are usually clever ,well plotted and informative on their setting. Unfortunately a good third of this book was padded with cloying , sentimental and unrealistic romantic claptrap.

Not bad
A good story but unfortunately the narrator is so dramatic, it makes me cringe. Don’t think I will read these again.
