About this listen
A pause resisting, real life thriller recounting the story of the Irish Republican Army Active Service Unit, placed in deep cover in London, and their murderous campaign against the British establishment. Equally gripping is the story of the Metropolitan police and their efforts to first identify the elusive group of terrorist, and then apprehend them. This is the true story of a deadly cat and mouse game played out on the streets of London that resulted in the infamous armed stand off at what would later be called the Balcombe Street Siege.

Catalyst For Change
I'm a Londoner, and I remember only too well the IRA bombing campaign of the mid-1970's in London, when hardly a day would go by without a shooting or a bombing somewhere. And the Balcombe Street Siege was the culmination of that period of terror. This well-researched book brings it all back in great detail and, although the bombings continued afterwards - particularly remembered by the Hyde Park and Regent's Park bombings of 1982 - the Balcombe Street event turned out to be the catalyst for the eventual dismantling of the IRA and their Loyalist counterparts, and for the implementation of the Good Friday Agreement leading to power-sharing in Northern Ireland. It's a very valuable book in that regard, and should certainly be read by anyone with an interest in 'The Troubles'.
