About this listen

A series of gruesome murders on the Lincolnshire fens. An old enemy from the past. A deadly game of cat and mouse.

The peaceful little village of Saltern-le-Fen is buzzing with excitement. A film crew are in town, shooting a new TV police drama, Fen Division Five. But Detective Jackman receives a disturbing tip-off that something is wrong.

Detective Marie Evans meanwhile is looking forward to moving into her dream home. But there’s no time to celebrate. The naked body of a young man is found at the river’s edge. He’s been strangled, his skin massaged in expensive oil.

Two days later, another handsome young man is discovered in a shallow lake. His throat cut. He too is lathered in body oil.

At the same time, an arch enemy from the past emerges. A master manipulator who has his sights on Jackman and Evans. From behind the bars of his high security prison, he’s putting the finishing touches to a devastating revenge plan.

As they hunt a brutal killer, Jackman and Evans are themselves hunted in a deadly game of cat and mouse – and the stakes could not be higher.

Touched my heart

what stood out for me was how the major character's loss and suffering influenced their actions, and how they supported & cared for each other - through the need to address a situation that affected them all to a greater or lesser degree.

The perfect combination

Great characters brought to life by both the author and the most wonderful narrative by Richard Armitage

Brilliant story

Loved this audible book. The story was the best so far, and Richard Armitage’s reading excellent.

Absolutely brilliant!!! 😀 👏 👏👏

What an amazing story!!! I found it quite emotional towards the end...so many emotions throughout too 😃😅🥺🤔😳😖 and was also thrown when (without giving anything away 😅) the storyline changed with a major upset and I was so angry and disappointed...but not for long as the ends justified the means 😀👍SO GOOD !!! 😁🙂😊

As usual, loathed to finish!

It’s a dilemma. You want to keep listening as you want to find out what happens next….. but then you don’t want it to end. After all these stories, not only do I feel like I know all the characters well, but I feel Richard Armitage has become an old friend, sitting next to me in the car! Faultless narration and great story line. Thoroughly recommend. I hope Ms Ellis has another plot in mind for next year!
