Hit & miss
I think this one really comes down to how dark you like your anti hero’s. Cain was a bit too full on for me. The dubious consent, how rough he was & how demeaning he was… imo it was over the top. But in saying that our heroine loved it. Which was confusing considering how terrified she was of him. The only redemption he got was the slight hint of worry for her that he thought occasionally.
I had trouble relating to Letty. I honestly thought she was a complete tease, stringing along all the men in her life and keeping them at arms length. Literally every guy was either in love with her or falling over themselves for her and she basked in their attention. As far as heroines go I thought she was super weak & I struggled to like her. She told Cain she wasn’t a dog but she always jumped when he barked.
I don’t really feel like much happened in this book. There wasn’t any big drama just revelations really. It was kind of just our main characters getting reacquainted and then a bomb being dropped at the end with still many questions unanswered.
If you love enemies to lovers books rough, dirty with stalker vibes then you’ll love this. The mystery in this one has me invested enough to continue the series.
This was my first time listening to these narrators and they didn’t disappoint.
