The dark secret Kayden has kept hidden for years is finally out. Worse, he's facing charges for battery. The only way to clear his name is for Callie to speak up - something he'll never ask her to do. Instead, he'll do whatever he must to protect her, even if it means letting go of the only girl he's ever loved.
Callie knows Kayden is going back to his dark place and desperately wants to save him. But that means admitting her own painful secrets aloud. The thought of breaking her silence terrifies her - but not as much as the thought of losing Kayden forever. Can she convince him they can make a fresh start together - or is she already too late?

Emotional but beautiful book
* Spoilers ahead and trigger warning *
This book was a very emotional journey. The book is based on rape, child abuse & the lasting effects it has on the main characters. I felt so deeply for not only Callie & Kayden but also Luke & Seth. The 4 main characters were all damaged in their own way & I loved how they came together as their own little version of a family.
Kayden & Callie’s relationship was sweet but delicate. Kayden pushes Callie away because he doesn’t feel worthy but Callie won’t leave him feeling alone. It was sweet how patient and determined Callie was to prove to him that he was worthy of love. I have to say though it annoyed me that he wouldn’t say I love you to Callie but he used to say it to his ex all the time... even if he didn’t mean it he could clearly say the words! I really felt bad for Callie even though she didn’t need to hear the words.
Although Callie & Kayden’s story seems to be completed I wouldn’t call it a HEA but they are together & working on themselves. The book ends on a cliff hanger which sets the tone for the next book about Luke & Violet.
The narrator does well narrating both roles however she doesn’t change her voice from characters so sometimes it got a little confusing when the characters where conversing.
Over all this was a beautiful book about over coming horrific past traumas and finding love & acceptance from someone who understands.
