Impoverished Star Wars - don't bother
I'm giving this dreadful review because I'm so angry and disappointed at the author - the first book was great - nothing mind-bending but it had an interesting twist on the aliens come to earth theme and it was entertaining. So of course I expected the remaining 3 books to be just as good and bought them all at once - boy was I wrong! The series got progressively worse, culminating in this tragedy. It's just a horrible mish-mash of the worst of Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings - think "centre of the universe hero hiding in a boring workplace who along with his new girlfriend (who just happens to be the most important being in the universe) battle overwhelming odds with friends who miraculously manage to help save the day." And to add insult to injury the language is so cliche its gag-worthy. The narrator is ok but his range of different voices is limited and sometimes its hard to work out which character he is portraying.
