About this listen
In a feat of virtuoso storytelling, Anne Rice unleashes Akasha, the queen of the damned, who has risen from a six-thousand-year sleep to let loose the powers of the night. Akasha has a marvelously devious plan to “save” mankind and destroy the vampire Lestat—in this extraordinarily sensual novel of the complex, erotic, electrifying world of the undead.

“Mesmerizing... a wonderful web of dark-side mythology.” (San Francisco Chronicle)
“With The Queen of the Damned, Anne Rice has created universes within universes, traveling back in time as far as ancient, pre-pyramidic Egypt and journeying from the frozen mountain peaks of Nepal to the crowded, sweating streets of southern Florida.” (Los Angeles Times)
“Imaginative... intelligently written... This is popular fiction of the highest order.” (USA Today)

Different Tone For Different Characters.
Most probably my favourite reader! I have been listening to different readers for a while and came across my favourite books. I hoped dearly that the reader would have done it justice. Simon Vance has outdone it! His different tones for the Different characters made it so much easier to know which character is speaking. If anyone is familiar with Anne Rice, it can be hard to follow who's talking, who's telling a story... Her intricate writing is most amazing, but it can be quite confusing. Simon Vance made it quite easy to understand, without changing a word! I cannot fault his read. I had to get more Anne Rice books with Simon Vance as the reader.

Vampies Drama better than the.movie
thoroughly enjoyed the book. Was one of those people that saw the movie first and now realise it did no justice to the book. Interesting getting a bit more backround of the ancients and older vamps.in the series

Love it
I still stand by that Simon makes everyone sound older but that’s fine and I am getting use to it and I found this one a little more boring then the first two books just because I feel that there were too many swapping povs in one book.

Such good voice acting
Vance is so good at switching between characters and narration. And of course, Anne Rice’s books are immaculate fun.

3 chapters in and I had to stop
Disjointed, confusing and hard work.
I have no idea why people rave about this book, it was a waste of money and time.
I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and it’s the first book I’ve not made it to the end or intend to.

Unsure of Narrator
Love Anne Rice. Love the novel. Just uncertain of the Narrator. Didn't enjoy the storytelling that much
