About this listen

Ex-Ranger Connor Bradwick and his partner, Ellie James, are an Oakland PD patrol team who care about the people of their community. They are tired of the bad guys trying to take over their turf. After rescuing four kidnapped children from kiddie porn dealers, the duo is pulled to desk duty and required to go through psychological evaluation. The straight-and-narrow psychologist has concerns about Connor's readiness to return to duty, so when their boss clears them for duty she decided to ride along.

Tired of picking up criminals just to have them released, Beckworth devises a plan of proactive patrolling. When parolees are released in their area, they will monitor the criminals' known places of business to catch them in the act or deter them from doing business. Their very first effort nets them an arrest and everything, both good and bad, snowballs from that point.

Elle has a smart attitude bigger than her six-foot-plus partner. Connor brings his experience as a soldier to the streets. Julie, the psychologist, finds herself more involved with this dynamic duo than she ever dreamed possible. This action-packed, suspense-filled police story begins with a bit of righteous vigilant justice but that is not what the book is about. Humor, friendship, and people who care make this awesome story work. It is an overall up-beat novel.
