About this listen

A gripping thriller by Australia's master of adventure about rescue, revenge and redemption, and the things we do to protect the ones we love.

Professor Denise 'Doc' Rado is South Africa's expert on pangolins, busting poachers and freeing the endangered anteaters in elaborate undercover stings.

After a risky operation backfires, Doc's life is shattered, but she still has to lead an eclectic group of donors on a wildlife tour of southern Africa.

But there's a target on her back.

As the safari ventures deep into Africa, Doc fears they're being followed and she will do anything to keep them all safe - especially Ian Laidlaw, a handsome Australian businessman turned accidental philanthropist.

Is Doc being hunted by the poachers she once fought, or is there some other bloodthirsty predator prowling the wilderness?

A very good audiobook spoiled

This was a good listen spoiled by very underwhelming narration. The story was credible, the scenery was described very well and there were plenty of plot twists and turns. However, the narration was stilted and devoid of much emotion. It was a very amateurish performance and thus it lowered this audiobook overall score for me.

Intriguing African Adventure

Tony Park has outdone himself again! Love the story.

The reader stumbled over some words at time, but he did well with most of the accents, differentiating characters in the story. However he continued making the mistake of pronouncing the ‘x’ in Xitsonga as a click when it is actually a ‘sh’ sound.

Having lived with the Tsonga (Shangaan) people of the Lowveld region of South Africa for 25 years, I found this mistake distracting at least and annoying at most, as it was obvious the reader (likely more familiar with other Nguni languages (eg Zulu, Xhosa) that pronounce ‘x’ as a click, clearly did not do thorough research.
