About this listen
Winner of the 2018 Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album.
When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved - plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naiveté, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a (sort-of) regular teenager.
With these excerpts from her handwritten notebooks, The Princess Diarist is Fisher's intimate and revealing recollection of what happened on one of the most famous film sets of all time - and what developed behind the scenes. And today, as she reprises her most iconic role for the latest Star Wars trilogy, Fisher also ponders the joys and insanity of celebrity, and the absurdity of a life spawned by Hollywood royalty, only to be surpassed by her own outer-space royalty. Laugh-out-loud hilarious and endlessly quotable, The Princess Diarist brims with the candour and introspection of a diary while offering shrewd insight into the type of stardom that few will ever experience.

A little prophetic.
I felt a few times during the book that she knew she was really long for this world. Loved Carrison.

Exceptional.
This book was the best company ever in the less than a day I enjoyed every single word of it as it’s a rollercoaster ride of an extraordinary big life shared with a disarming sense of intimacy, unbridled humour that constantly had me in fits of laughter & the kind of depth of vulnerability that cannot be duplicated. Incredible. 👍🏼👍🏼 #fivestars

My first Carrie Fisher book and first Audio book.
Loved it! Listening to Carrie Fisher narrate her own book so soon after her passing was poignant and surreal at times. This is my first Carrie Fisher book and I loved it! Her writing and observations are funny and clever. I highly recommend!

Oh Lo(u)rd! The diaries!
The rest of the book is okay, Carrie maybe over delivers the narration and perhaps over glorifies the back story. But my Lo(u)rd! Billie Lourd’s narration of the diary entries and Carrie Fisher’s young poetic prowess is PHENOMENAL and I could listen to that portion of the book over and over and over and take something new from it every single time. It is stunning. For anyone that has felt the pangs of unrequited love or inexperienced sexuality - it is just beautifully clever, painfully accurate, and artisticly acute,

I expected more
I love Carrie Fisher’s wise, self-deprecating downbeat manner but this book did not change my life. Seemed to focus more on Harrison Ford and her own height and weight than her journey through life and anything she might have learnt along the way. Disappointing

the most perfect memoir
real. relatable thought process. comforting. and so heartfelt. listening to these words have helped me to feel a lot more confident in who I am and my natural flow and 'writers voice'. it feels bittersweet listening to the last thing this goddess birthed into this world. I am ever so grateful that Carrie chose to speak up about the things that mattered. I think the words in this book will bring a lot of hope to others who experience life in the way Carrie did. thank you Carrie, your legacy truly lives on

Last chance to spend time with Carie
Somewhat poignant to listen to now. Funny and sad.
Carrie reflects back on her time on Star Wars, her self loathing, her affair with Harrison Ford and stardom today.

Inside the head of a 19 year old...
Carrie's musings for the first half of the book were interesting. As soon as the narrator changed and the diary started to be read, I almost gagged. I couldn't stand listening to more than 2 minutes, so have no idea if it got better after this. I think it reminded me too much of my overly romantic teenage self.
