My name is Sunny Gardner, and at the age of seventeen, my mother is on her third husband. He’s the preacher. But this time, there is something very strange. Something dark and evil taking up residence in our small town of Layton. And it has everything to do with my stepfather.
They say evil takes many forms. But nobody in Layton, Alabama could possibly have been prepared for Avery Dawson, who preaches the Word, but lives a life of secrets and lies.
This is my story. A story of struggle, triumph, and, ultimately, a story of how I saved myself and my community from the devil himself.
