Mixed Feelings

Firstly, I've read some of Jojo Moyes books before so I knew I wouldn't be getting a run of the mill kind of story.

With this one, I bounced between feelings of deep irratation, and relative enjoyment, but mostly irratation as I found the main character hard to NOT get irratated at. Susanne is one of those characters that manages to get to the age of 35 and still remain childish and selfish and completely unaware of how to get her life sorted out. That was the irritating part. I was more rooting for the secondary characters than I was interested in her story, though all the stories are inter-twained so hers was necessary.

Just when I'm started to make angry animal noises of disgust and wanting to throw something, the story changes (this is towards the end) and things resolve and reveal themseleves and kept me going until the end.

I'm still unimpressed with Susanne as a character, (and find myself not able to truely like her), but I'm left achknowledging the Moyes is a seriously good writer who isnt afraid to tackle characters who aren't particularly attractive, but can still craft a good story around them. I'd recommend this book for that fact, but it comes with warning that you may find aspects annoying, though to be fair, maybe you won't mind dear old Sus.

This isn't a bad review as even now I'm rehashing the story over in my head and contemplating all the aspects of it. And isnt that, at the end of the day, the sign of decent tale?

Peacock magic

I struggled to get into this story but it wasn't long before Jojo worked her usual magic. This story touches on all the different aspects of relationships; the struggles, the mismatches and the journey taken in finding one self. Narrated beautifully, bringing each character to life.

Boring

Doesn't seem to go anywhere. Couldn't get into the book at all. Characters were uninspiring and the story wasn't picking up after about an hour of listening. I don't often not finish a book, but just didn't have the ticker to go the distance on this one.

I had to keep rewinding, because it was so very boring and predictable! my goodness- I've never been put to sleep so easily! I read this because a friend asked me to. I am a good friend after this! so slow and predictable.
