About this listen

A remarkable story of four sisters, family secrets and discovering what's really important in life.

How can four sisters build the futures they so desperately want when the past is reaching out to claim them?

When the Patterson daughters return home to Meadow Brook to be with their father after their mother’s death, they bring with them a world of complication and trouble.

The eldest sister, obstetrician Madeleine, would rather be anywhere but her hometown; violinist Abigail has fled from her stellar career; while teacher Lucinda is struggling to have the children she and her husband so desperately want. The black sheep of the family, Charlie, feels her life as a barista and exercise instructor doesn’t measure up to that of her gifted and successful sisters.

Dealing with their bereft father, who is determined to sell the family motel, their loves old and new and a series of troublesome decisions doesn’t make life any easier, but when they go through their mother’s possessions and uncover the shocking secret of an old family curse, they begin to question everything they thought they knew.

A warm and wise story about secrets revealed, finding your soulmate and the unique bond between sisters.

Brilliant and juicy

Loved this book so much. So many twists. The sisters relationship and supporting each other is delightful. There are some juicy bits which quickly had me diving for volume on the car stereo. Great story.

Another excellent Aussie story.

Rachel Johns has done it again. Another excellent story, based around a family of 4 very different sisters, but involving some lovely romance as well. The sensitive subject of problems with conceiving a baby are dealt with in a beautiful, compassionate way but the fictitious Patterson sister’s delightful story is about more than pregnancy.
Highly recommend.

I enjoyed listening to this book. The storyline was interesting and it had a lot of twists. The narrator kept me literally glued to the book. This is one of those book that one would read over and over again. Overall…. Well done!

A Charming Australian Romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story of four very different sisters who return to a small country town in South Australia to celebrate Christmas with their recently widowed father. The holiday causes each sister to question/re-evaluate their lives and leads to interesting journeys for all. Lots of good romance and great family interactions. A really enjoyable read.

Depressing

Depressing for the first few chapters and I nearly gave up on it. Did the storyline improve? It changed but I found some of the characters immature and even annoying.
Not one of her best.
