Not the one I remember
This was really disappointing. Not only is the story abridged with annoying musical inserts, it is a different reader. Turns out I wanted the version read by Maureen Lipman which I used to listen to to go to sleep as a child. Unfortunately, Audible doesn't have that. This one might have been okay if they hadn't cut all the good bits.

I'd like a refund
As a kid we had a cassete tape of this book. It was a wonderful reading that stayed with me for 30 years. Could not remember who by. THIS WAS NOT IT.
This reading is grating on the ears. All the voices he does are hard to understand because they're all screechy and whiny and nasal.
Also, the book has been abridged for no apparent reason, taking away all of the funniest parts and a large amount of the character building, where was the part where he eats all the time, where were his parent's entire personalities?
Another frustrating thing about the abridgement was that whatever time was 'saved' in cutting out quality storytelling was then wasted with horrendous music that made it feel even more disjointed.
Very, very dissatisfied.
