Publisher's Summary

One dinner party will destroy everything.

The night that throws a wrecking ball into Abby’s life starts out perfectly at first. There’s still a hint of summer sun in the purple-streaked sky. Abby and her best friend, Sienna, look on fondly as their two husbands laugh under the garden gazebo. None of them know it’s the last time they will be together again.

What starts out as just a little fun has devastating consequences for the couples. Alone with Sienna’s husband, Greg, Abby finds him unexpectedly charming. Caught up in the moment, she reveals a secret she swore never to tell. And something happens that night that neither she nor Greg can take back.

Abby is desperate to tell her husband and Sienna the truth but can’t risk Greg sharing what she told him. She has no choice but to keep quiet. Then Greg suddenly disappears.

Is her best friend’s husband simply running from his secrets? Or has someone decided they can’t risk that he may share theirs?

From number one best-selling author Kathryn Croft comes a gripping and twisty psychological thriller perfect for fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train.

A LOT of waffle

This book had a good story line but just took too long to get to the point and dragged on. I liked the narrator.

This is so worth the read.

So many twists I had no idea who it was.

Highly recommend.

Kept me guessing

I persevered through this story just to find out who dunnit in this wandering tale. I didn’t engage with or feel Empathy for any characters.
I was confused between their names for most of the book
The ending was not credible; the lack of strong police scrutiny was difficult to accept.

To be fair I think if a story grabs me enough to keep me following - if only to know who was the killer - it can’t be too bad.

Average, at best.

It was an interesting opening. It was slow and dragged. I continued because I had nothing else planned to read but honestly could have stopped any time without another thought. Definitely was a cop out twist/ending.

Light weight

The story carries on ok, but the ending was disappointing . I enjoyed the reading, but it’s a ‘light-weight’ story.

Just. Ok.

Characters are only surface built, no depth to them. I didn't care for the narrator either, I like the British accent, but the voices were not quite right.
I found myself feeling frustrated with the story line rather than intrigued, it was slow going at times with not much happening, it felt like it was just killing time until the conclusion. The ending I guess was "a twist" but just felt relieved it was over rather than anything.

Worth reading!

It's pretty slow like her other books, but half way trough it gets better- and the ending makes it all worth it. Not her best work but pretty good!

The other husband

Intrigue after intrigue. Many twists and shows how mistrust between people can cause complications

Long and tedious at times

A very good story line, intricate and compelling. Lots of twists and turns. Just when you think you know the answer, there's another turn. It takes a long time to get to the end, but worth it.
