About this listen
A lush and enchanting fantasy romance, inspired by Beauty and the Beast and the myth of Hades and Persephone. Beloved by fans on TikTok.
Wren of Edgewood is no stranger to suffering. With her parents gone, it is Wren’s responsibility to ensure she and her sister survive the harsh and endless winter, but if the legends are to be believed, their home may not be safe for much longer.
For three hundred years, the land surrounding Edgewood has been encased in ice as the Shade, a magical barrier that protects the townsfolk from the Deadlands beyond, weakens. Only one thing can stop the Shade’s fall: the blood of a mortal woman bound in wedlock to the North Wind, a dangerous immortal whose heart is said to be as frigid as the land he rules. And the time has come to choose his bride.
When the North Wind sets his eyes on Wren’s sister, Wren will do anything to save her—even if it means sacrificing herself in the process. But mortal or not, Wren won’t go down without a fight.

‘Their enemies-to-lovers romance feels wholly earned, with just enough spice to keep the sparks flying, and the worldbuilding is fresh and distinctive, even with the clear fairy tale influence. Romantasy fans will swoon for this.’ (Publishers Weekly)

Slow Start
This was a bit of a slow start. Once the story got going though it was really good.
Wren was an amazing character who was so brave and you can't help but like.

Simply delightful
I will admit I struggled with some parts of this book, its Beauty and the Beast inspiration rang too clearly in many parts, and BatB is literally my least favourite of all the fairytales. However by the time the Hades and Persephone kicked in, I was left feeling more positive about the story and the direction it was going.
I look forward to book 2.

Enchanting ❤️
I loved this book, it has it all! humour, drama, battles, plenty of spice! and soul crushing love ❤️
If you enjoyed the ACOTAR series this book is for you! The characters were all very likeable and the narration & voices also good. I loved the main character Wren, she is sassy, strong and kind.
The worst part about this book was that it was over too soon, but ended well without any loose ends and left me wanting more 😋
