About this listen
Between looking after her brother, working two low-paid jobs and trying to take part-time college classes, Lynette is dangerously tired. Every penny she's earned for years, she's put into savings, trying to scrape together enough to take out a mortgage on the house she rents with her mother.
Finally becoming a homeowner in their rapidly gentrifying Portland neighbourhood could offer Lynette the kind of freedoms she's never had. But, when the plan is derailed, Lynette must embark on a desperate odyssey of hope and anguish.

"Willy Vlautin's The Night Always Comes is a tear-struck revelation - both epic and timely, intimate and clear-eyed." (Megan Abbott)
"Remarkable, real and tender, The Night Always Comes is a story of America, of the disenfranchised and the still hopeful, of a world littered with artifacts and so little opportunity." (Rene Denfeld, author of The Child Finder)

What a great listen
Starts of thinking there was not going to be much to this story but it keeps building and becomes an absorbing ride. The audiobook equivalent of a regular book you can't put down.
Narration is also top shelf, love the tone of the male voices and the overall delivery helps the story flow seamlessly.
