Publisher's Summary

Trapped in a dungeon. There's only one way out. Kill or be killed....

An AI calling itself Schema has assimilated Earth into its System. As a consequence, everyone gained access to status screens, power-ups, and skills. This AI turned these concepts from fiction to fact. It's easy to become intoxicated with leveling up and becoming stronger. To some, it's too good to be true, like living out a dream.

For Daniel, however, it's closer to a nightmare.

He's in a bit of a predicament. Cracks in our dimensional fabric have unleashed terrifying beasts from dark, abyssal places. Schema organizes these cracks into dungeons, giving the native species of the planet a chance to fight back.

Daniel finds himself stuck in one of these dungeons. It's time to break free, by any means necessary.

Experience the start of an action-packed LitRPG apocalypse series with nearly 15 million views on Royal Road.

It's not much of a story.

The Audiobook fails to deliver on the premise of a new world as its seems like escapes one box into another while he expositions his backstory to randoms , while being kind of one note and uninteresting as the entire world needs to be destroyed to make his life interesting or something, It makes the protag OP with no human comparison as it discards the premise of other humans being caught up in this aswell into a get good noob mentality. I had to listen to it at 2.4 times speed as the pacing was dragging on with the skill ups and fighting. There was little contrast that mattered as all of that attention was put into the assassin that tried to kill him becoming his partner.

Tbh if there is a second book I proberbly won't listen to it and wouldn't recommend the book.

Goes from standard to monstrous! Really enjoyed it

This is fucking awesome! I love how it snowballs quick into very cool and mixed grotesque body-horror and nearly non stop action, fighting, growth. It moves pretty rapidly from a standard MC into something powerfully monstrous. It can feel as though there's constant action at the pace it moves, and then periods of down-time for skill refinement. I really liked the shifting move from something that started so standard into something that grows into a monstrosity and is horrific in the changes the MC goes through. This progression isn't something I've seen leveraged before, and I loved it!

Damnit, when is book 2!? How will MC's humanity be continued to be stretched!?

good all round looking forward to the next. only criticism is the mc was a little blaza when the system kicked in, he adapted a little too quickly.

An absolute must read/hear

I first listened to this series on YouTube, it is hands down the most enthralling series I've ever heard!
It took a few chapters to get used to the different narrator, who does a wonderful job!
The Harbinger of Cataclysm shall rise!

Monotone nightmare

I tried to enjoy this, the story is ok-ish if a bit on the teenage delusion side of narcissism, however the delivery is terrible! Delivered in a breathy monotone rush, action sequences become a boring muddle of words with little to no emotion within them. The reading just feels rushed and as uninspired as the writing. Save yourself the time and give this one a miss.
