They think I'm a young, idealistic law student, that I'm passionate about reforming a corrupt and brutal system.

They think I'm working hard to impress them.

They think I'm here to save an innocent man on death row.

They're wrong. I'm going to bury him.

Compelling, clever, and utterly satisfying.

Compelling, clever, and utterly satisfying. McTiernan reminded me again why I can't go passed a novel by her. Hope to hear more of Hannah soon.

Gripping until the last chapter

I’ve loved her books and the pre is of this one is excellent and it kept me involved until the last chapter and I felt a bit cheated as it just ‘ended’

Twists through to the very end

Dervla has planted her protagonist in USA and it rings true enough for my entertainment. Not sure what Americans would say. With a nod to a technological native generation, the action and styling reflect their behaviours: email, social media, the reach and visibility of our digital footprint. I waivered between what direction the truth was going right to the very end.

Another literary star turn. A must-listen!

I loved this on many levels. A refreshing change in location from Ireland but with the same fully realised characters, stunning sentence construction, and nuanced narrative.. Had me gripped from the start leading to many late nights! A five star winner. Well done Dervla! Can't wait for your next book. Would make a great HBO mini-series too with the complex leading character.

Unexpected turn of events

Very interesting story. A must for your library!

Hannah is very likeable, and so are the other characters. The story is extremely believable too. If I could meet Hannah, even I would say well done to you.
