About this listen

An illuminating exploration of Ireland's ancient dark goddess - the beloved "phantom queen" of the Celtic world - with practices for modern-day devotees.

The Morrigan is one of Pagan Ireland's most famous - and notorious - goddesses. Her name translated as "phantom queen" or "great queen," the Morrigan is famous for being a goddess of war, witchcraft and death, protection and retribution. This book also explores her patronage of motherhood, healing, shapeshifting, and the land.

Classified among the Sidhe (fairies), the Morrigan dates back at least to Ireland's Iron Age, but she is as modern as she is ancient-enjoying a growing contemporary and global following.

Author Courtney Weber provides a guide for the modern devotee of this complex, mysterious goddess that encompasses practical veneration with modern devotionals, entwined with traditional lore and Irish-Celtic history.

Life changing read!

Life changing stuff. I’m now going to have to buy the hard copy so that I can refer back to different sections over and over and over. A wonderful listen, and I loved the tone - there was no condescension towards the audience, or assumption that the audience knows nothing. Loved this experience!

Historical perspectives and personal experience

I like the approach to content of this book - Offering various perspectives on the Morrigan based on myths and legends, providing interpretations of these, followed by personal experiences and suggestions for rituals.

The reader/voice was good but it would feel more authentic to have an Irish accent for the reader.

brilliant book, super bad reader ruined it.

This book is brilliant, no wishy washy bullshit. The reader ruined it. I put up with it for 1/2 of book but couldn't take it anymore. I seen on the Irish pagan group that Courtney didn't pick her reader n only knew her book was being made in2 audio when they needed advice of pronouncing words. NOT GOOD AUDIBLE!!!

well researched

A lot of research and lived experience have gone into creating this book. I kinda wish I had bought the hard copy so I could highlight it and make notes, but it was worth the listen regardless

Horrible audio

I didn't even get a chance to get into the book. I plan on purchasing the hard copy because I've wanted to read this for ages but I only got 1 minute and a half into the audio book because the audio is clunky and irritating to listen to.
