This is not the book
I didn’t want a theatrical interpretation of the written word. I wanted the written word.
I found this nearly unlistenable and a total distraction.
I live a busy city life and frequently use audiobooks to read along to so that I can drown out all of my senses and fully engulf myself in the material.
I can’t believe that when I added the purchase of the audiobook to the purchase of my book, I was purchasing two different things that have nearly nothing to do with the other.
Zero stars if I could.

Lost is the writers craft in this "new" way of presenting audio books.
One of the great joys of listening to, or reading, a polished author like Stephen King, is listening to the art his craft makes from words. Perceiving layers of meaning and appreciating clever and innovative description and turn of phrase.
All of this, is lost completely in this rendering that leaves one groping blindly through an often confusing sound scape that can only really hint at the rich experience that the text itself would provide.
The words of an accomplished writer contain a richness that is often lost in conversion to other media. For this reason we often read books in preference to cinema viewing.
This audio experience, while delivering high quality sound, is the very distant poor cousin to cinema. What is lost of the authors art in cinematic production is again lost tenfold in this format.
I gave up on listening to it. Should this become the audible standard, I'll unsubscribe and return to printed text (making the enjoyment of listening on long drives a memory as distant as any experience of enjoyment from this recording).
Quality sound and acting, but lost is the Author and the richness of his words are lost. It's not about the plot, it's about the author, the words, the insight and depiction, a point Stephen King himself makes in his own writing.
