Publisher's Summary

The ninth Logan McRae thriller from the No. 1 bestseller Stuart MacBride.

‘Dark and griping. A riveting page-turner’ Independent on Sunday

One mistake can cost you everything…

A little girl’s body washes up just outside the sleepy coastal town of Macduff, kicking off a major manhunt. Officially, the investigation is out of Sergeant Logan McRae’s hands, but DCI Steel’s Major Investigation Team, drafted in from Aberdeen, is getting nowhere fast.

Steel is running out of ideas and time. She wants Logan back on her team, and doesn’t care how she gets him there.

One thing is clear: there are dangerous predators lurking in the wilds of Aberdeenshire, and not everyone’s getting out of this alive…

brilliant story

Logan is in the thick of trouble x 10 again and it's never ending. Read amazingly by Steve Worsley again. I really enjoyed it.

McRae & Steele Absolute Gold

Whilst I didn't find the story as fast paced and gritty as others in the series it is always worth it just to hear McRae & Steele together. There were many occasions when I laughed aloud at the banter. MacBride is a master at this type of dialogue. As ever his descriptions are so evocative that you can almost feel and smell the scene. I am once again desperate for his next offering. The characters are believable, down to earth and often flawed but they are very real. Stuart MacBride has delivered again. My only criticism would be that he could learn to write faster!

Back on track

Back on track with this one, I felt as if poor Logan was slipping away slightly in the last book.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story line in this one and it was really well narrated.

Great job by Stuart MacBride and Steve Worsley

Twists and turns

I really enjoyed this story. There seemed to be lots of storyline’s running through this book making for an interesting read. I especially enjoyed the way Day to day police work was scattered through the story.
Once again Steve worsley worked his magic bringing the characters to life.
Will poor Logan ever catch a break!

the terrible swearing ...

so much swearing it became annoying. I don't generally mind swearing. I do a lot myself but this is over the top. just one character but she happens to be a mainbone

Logan losing his touch?

Still love Logan

And what's happened since the last book seems plausible and fair

That said, it seems Logan's life may be going in a new direction I'm not sure I like...

It's not gonna stop me from getting the next book right now... But it does give me pause.

Good read

I enjoy the Logan McRae books but this did drag on a bit especially with the “OK to talk” did get a bit much. I’m hoping the next book will have Logan’s career moving forward not backward.
