Superb story by Barbara Vine (Ruth Rendell)
Another absolutely fascinating family saga with the suspense and the disturbed psychological characters Vine is so brilliant at. Really enjoyed this one too. Thank you Audible.

Can’t Barbara Vine sling a great yarn
And Sian Thomas is a terrific narrator. You hardly notice her reading. I just love this story. Although although all Barbara Vines writing is marvellous.

Enjoyable
This was quite enjoyable to listen to. First time I have listened to this author. Good storyline with good narration. Sad in places due to ignorance of the time set.

Barbara Vine is one of my favourites

Easy listening
Beautiful narration of a story that meanders through the lives of an eccentric family - the mother and four daughters are brought to life through great characterisation- I didn’t want the story to finish but all the ends tied together nicely on completion. Love Ruth Rendell especially when she writes as Barbara Vine!

Disappointing
This story has promise all trhe way through that something exciting is about it happen. And when it does it is an anticlimax.
