__________________________________________________________

Midsummer, the Dorset coast

In the shadows of an ancient wood, guests gather for the opening weekend of The Manor: a beautiful new countryside retreat.

Hard to put down

Great story, well casted and wonderfully performed. So hard to put down. Stayed up real late to finish in one night.

Ugghhh…sooo damn good! Again!!

Suspense, mystery, drama, folklore and magic. Absolutely what you would expect from a Lucy Foley novel, only just better. I pre-ordered this and listened in one weekend. Dark story that hints at supernatural and magical themes,, intertwining stories, great job at creating complex characters, and genuinely interesting surprises at the end. If you like Foleys other work, you will not be disappointed.

Another twisted winner

I love the way the characters slowly unveil themselves. Gripped with mystery, intrigue, and plenty of secrets! Another winner by Lucy Foley.

The Midnight Feast

Great narration. So many connections and links. The ending felt like there could be another story coming for Eddie.

Meh

Lucy Foley is a bit of a one-trick pony - multiple POVs, a luxury retreat somewhere in the UK, a bit of class snobbery, resentment under the surface, a past timeline etc etc. This book is no different.

Also it’s not really a mystery, things just happen in the book and there’s no big surprise, just a gradual reveal.

There are some big clunky coincidences about the characters too that feel more like a writer filling in gaps than a reveal.

Not good.
