Interesting point of view, from an awful human.
I have read/listened to a few Holocaust books. This one was refreshing in a, I just sucked fluids from an elephant turd in the desert, kind of way.
Hearing the point of view of an SS Soilder was an interesting perspective. The cold, apathetic way in which he describes his part in the Holocaust is infuriating, especially when he tries to induce sympathy from the reader. Nonetheless, it is worth a read.. but gosh, it is rough.
The narrator did well to convey the vibe of old Hoss well while still keeping the tone interesting.

Chilling account of bad human behaviour.
Hoess shows little emotion recounting his life, and in particular possibly rewriting history and his own involvement in the possible death of 2.5 million people at Auschwitz. “I was just following orders” needs more examination by more independent sources although there maybe some truth.
Hopefully it will never occur again.

Like a car crash - you can't help but look
Enthralling account of some of the worst atrocities ever committed by anyone really. Its an amazing account. Stunning in its cold accuracy. I could not put it down.
Mans inhumanity to man. Explained to the self in order to facilitate acceptance by ones peers and the praise of ones superiors.
"I was only following orders"
Tell it to the Judge you Schmuck.

Fascinating
Suggested to anyone interested in studying the Third Reich or the Holocaust. A view of the Holocaust from a seldom heard from perspective and one that is often ignored or discounted. Very interesting hearing from an actual perpetrator.

Insightful
what can I say
A fascinating insight into one of the major players in the Holocaust.
Although the ideals and morals of this man are questionable , it's still an interesting journey into the mind of a passionate Nazi .
And to hear his thoughts in his own words is a rare opportunity .
But do listen to this book with an open mind , and you won't be disappointed
