About this listen

Brought to you by Puffin.

The third audiobook in the bestselling spin off series from Percy Jackson and the Olympians - now a major Disney+ series!

ONE FATAL PROPHECY. SEVEN BRAVE DEMIGODS. A QUEST TO FIND - AND CLOSE - THE DOORS OF DEATH.

Annabeth felt as if someone had draped a cold washcloth across her neck. She heard that whispering laughter again, as if the presence had followed her from the ship.

She looked up at the Argo II. Its massive bronze hull glittered in the sunlight. Part of her wanted to kidnap Percy right now, get on board and get out of here while they still could.

She couldn't shake the feeling that something was about to go terribly wrong. She couldn't risk losing Percy again.

Brilliance from go to woh

This book has taken the series to a new level. The characters are portrayed by the reader as I believe the author intended and this has created the feeling of being there with them. I would recommend this book to all readers who can get a hold of it. Whether you are 8 or 80 this book will thrill and amuse you. From the thrill of the dangers faced to the corny humour of Leo. From the rivalry between the characters to the love they share the book grows until it suddenly is ended and we are left hanging out for the next book.

Mark Of Athena Review: The Story Just Got Started

Mark of Athena Narrator Josh Swanson: B(75%)

Performance (Average) : Unfortunately this is the main thing that drags down this audiobook, it’s s not bad but not the best you will find on Audible Books. The narrator does a good job at making sure you can differentiate between the characters. At times he can feel slow and undramatic.

Story (Good): (Spoilers for Previous Books)
Mark of Athena ties together the previous 2 books it starts with the Greeks and Romans meeting and unraveling each other’s existence. The story does at sometimes feel like it has fallen into the formula of the previous 2 books but does vary enough to keep it interesting. At sometimes the character interactions can feel a bit artificial. Being a book that focussed on 7 characters some go on being very much undeveloped on the other hand the characters that they do focus on mature a lot adding lots of depth to them.

Love the Percy Jackson series

If you loved the Percy Jackson series when reading you’ll love the audio book. However, some feed back:
The narrator has some amazing qualities but some annoying ones as well.
He does voices and some of them I fell in love with and others I didn’t. At one stage he tried to pull of a middle eastern accent and it was very Indian (which there is nothing wrong with but as some one who is familiar with middle eastern accents, it irks me a bit). He also mispronounces some names (eg he pronounces Gaia as “Gia”) so if you’re somewhat of a grammar nazi, look elsewhere.
I do LOVE most of the voices he pulls off. When there is a transition from a male to female; he conveys it really well. The tone of specific chapters is conveyed very well through his narration so that when it’s funny- you laugh, and when it’s emotional- you feel.
Overall I am thoroughly enjoying this audiobook. It takes me back to the first time I read this series, and my love is rekindled!
