About this listen
'Dark Matter pulls light waves into curves, and conceals the true location of everything. It distorts reality.'
Astronomer Lucy Rutherford is celebrating the refurbishment of the 100-year-old telescope in the Yarra Valley town of Bowness, Victoria. Her husband, Justin, is running for parliament, on a platform of responsibility and progress.
But Lucy isn't interested in being a politician's wife. She plans to leave him once he's won the election. Her biggest concern is how her eleven-year-old daughter, Gabby, will take the news. Or does Gabby already know? She has a habit of listening in on conversations she shouldn't.
A week before polling day Lucy takes the family dog for a walk and doesn't return. Justin is convinced and angry that Lucy has abandoned him so close to the election. Yet Gabby is certain her mother is missing and in trouble. Why isn't her father looking?
Another compelling drama from the bestselling author of Torched.

Literature
A really fascinating story. Not your usual mystery story it’s nuanced and filled with symbolism, listen carefully to this piece of writing, it’s beautifully and skilfully narrated and has more than meets the ear. The real story lies under the words. A fantastic author and I enjoyed it.

Better than expected
Great format, there is complexity in themes, very visual, relatable and engaging. Invokes emotion through language, imagery and the experience of characters. Rural society is well represented as are the social issues, moral and ethical issues faced throughout the book.

Really enjoyed this text
A story with twists and turns that surprises the listener. The greed of some individuals overwhelms human decency and is true to life. Never forget why we all exist.
